The Bingo Club in years gone by What a dance floor it used to be! used for tea dances, balls, theatre and function room even weddings. Sid Lawrence, Billy Cotton, I'veeven been told Jack Parnell played here, that was before my time though.
This is nothing to do with the club really apart from the fact Su like me works in the bingo club But Ok so just as I'm doing this web page sister in law (Jan on right) turns up first time in ages to see her twin (My missus Su on left) both were wearing similar bib and shorts thing and both with magic roundabout t-shirts. Talk about twins being alike.
Above is just an old map dates from some time in the 50s it just shows how Skeg has changed over the years |
A bit about the Club We play Bingo each evening of the week and close just Christmas day and Boxing Day (YES days off). Plus three afternoons each week even in the winter when it blows a bit hard we still open three Eyes down in the afternoon is 1:45pm with lunches being served for bingo players from 12 noon till 2pm (they are cheap and good) afternoons are quieter than evenings and some players like that.. In the evening we do a selection of basket meals plus the usual rolls, things and chips and more chips (boring stuff like that). Also a licensed bar where you can find your favourite tipple, the bar (got a pool table too) is separate from the bingo club so you could always wait in there if you come to collect a player from bingo. We play link games each afternoon and evening paying out up to £5000 some times plus The National Bingo Game (the colour of these tickets is lousy purple boarder ugh) paying up to £100,000 five nights, £200,000 on Sundays and £50,000 on Tuesdays cos it cheap night 25p ticket. Main session books in the evening are sold for £1 and that will last the full session giving over 40 chances to win great cash prizes. Another game is the jackpot game that is played; this varies and can be up to £3000 I like to change that every now and then to make it more interesting. Also we play party bingo 20p and £1 games and a jackpot with some great extra prizes at times. The club is air conditioned and comfortably furnished the staff are on hand to help with any problem or just chat (because they dont do much work). Always there is a manager in attendance so if you have any comments what so ever, please do ask to see a manager; we do like to know what you think of the club be it bad or good. Most of our members come for an enjoyable night out with a chance to go home a bit richer, we make no bones about it some times you win others you loose, but come to enjoy yourself more than any thing else please. As you may have by now guessed I own this bingo club my name is Mervyn Cooper and I love running bingo it's fun. I have been involved with bingo for nearly forty years and this is the one and only bingo club I own. The club will never be a Mecca or Gala or any other of the "Big Boys" it is totally independent and friendly on a personal basis. All of my staff enjoy their work and dont work just for the money (so they say) but they actually work to enjoy the sociability of bingo. Enough blabber from me any way if you come to dear old Skeggy pay us a visit. You do have to be a member so have a look at one of the other pages and you might just find a membership form. Membership is free even the postage is free if on the envelope you put Free Post (thanks Post Office you still charge me!) in the address and post within the UK (remember this is on the net). Ok! If you have really read this far you deserve a prize so here's the deal. Come and play bingo for a night wear odd socks and I'll buy you a drink at the end of the night how's that? I often wondered how many people out there read all the details on a page and I would like to bet not too many people claim their free drink (what do you reckon?). By the way as I get used to these new fangled bits of technology I will be putting more pages and pictures on this web site so keep an eye open. There is more to see on this site so please do have a look around there are links to friends sites aswell some of which I have designed and they seem happy enough with them, you may just be interested in what they offer. And so for now, Cheers and Good Luck, Good Fortune, Good Health to All |

The top photo here is before the place was even built, it was an outdoor skating rink. The photo below in the first place built on the site called "The Casino" it was actually a big fish and chip cafe which had coach loads of people coming from factories all over the midlands for a day out in Skeg. On the right of the photo is where Billy Butlin started an amusement park before he started his Butlins Holiday Camp 2 miles to the north. If you click on the map above it should take you to a better map of the area in colour even then click on the red circle on that map, you can come back here if you put this page in yur favorites Dont forget that you can e-mail us here or phone 01754 762537 North Parade Social Club Skegness Lincs., PE25 1BY |
